The SLE-2 is a trim option in the compact crossover category that builds on the conveniences of SLE-1 and adds a few new aspects to it.
Features
The SLE-2 has an 8-way power driver seat, automatic climate control, LED daytime running lights, leather upholstered steering wheel and an 8-speaker Pioneer audio system. This versatile car also has GMCs Interlink technology which includes compatibility with Pandora and Stitchery smartphone apps and voice command functionality. Its Convenience package adds heated front seats and remote engine start. The lane departure warning and blind spot warning are added safety features on SLE-2, with upgraded front and rear styling as well as daytime running LED lights. This small-to-midsize crossover car is equipped with noise cancelling technology, a powerful suspension system, and an optional V6 engine which has the towing power of up to 3500 pounds. The Terrain SLE-2 beats out its four competitors in terms of comfort, versatility and V6 power capabilities.
The standard features include 17-inch alloy wheels, full power accessories, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, rear-view camera, rear privacy glass and OnStar infotainment package including the 4G LTE Wi-Fi options. The Terrain SLE-2 trim is enhanced by heated exterior mirrors, rear carpeted floor mats, satellite radio, all-wheel drive power option alongside the standard front wheel drive feature. It also has two driver Alert packages. The first level has blind spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, rear-cross traffic detection, and an adjustable power lift-gate. The second level has a lane departure warning, a forward collision alert, with an optional navigation system and 18-inch alloy wheels. This model is designed to work well with a 182 horsepower, 2.4 litre engine that has 172lb-ft of torque. It also has the optional 3.6 litre V6 engine that produces 301 horsepower and 272 pound-feet of torque. Its front drive wheel is standard while the all-wheel drive, like most cars in its class, is optional. The towing capacity of an SLE-2 ranges from about 1500 pounds on the four cylinder engine to 3500 pounds for the V6 powered engines.
Safety
This car has the premier safety features common in most GMC Terrain models including antilock brakes, front and side-impact airbags, a rear-view camera and stability control. To add to that, it has GMC’s OnStar emergency notification capabilities including remote door unlock, emergency assistance button, an automatic crash notification and stolen vehicle assistance.
Overview
The SLE-2 gets a 4 out of 5-star rating on the crash tests, with 4-stars for frontal impact and 5-star rating for side impact. This car has a great interior finish as well as quite intuitive control features which makes it very navigable and a great option in the compact crossover category!
